Description

At a strategic location along the A44, a large-scale commercial complex dedicated to biotechnology companies has been built within the Bio Science Park in Leiden: Plus Ultra Leiden.

This park is home to approximately 130 companies, as well as various educational and research institutions. The design of this new multi-tenant building, which houses offices and laboratories, was created by Cepezed on behalf of Kadans Science Partner, a developer and manager of innovation hubs.

The building, with a total gross area of 19,000 m², was designed with high sustainability ambitions, achieving BREEAM Excellent certification. The design is notable for its great flexibility and places particular emphasis on creating a healthy and pleasant working environment.

On behalf of Goossen Te Pas Bouw from Enschede, we installed nearly 5,400 m² of Hueck unitized facades and 670 m² of Schüco curtain walling, allowing for abundant natural light, thereby contributing to an optimal working environment. In addition, we installed 790 m² of façade cladding.

The advantage of unitized facades lies in their fully prefabricated construction, enabling rapid installation on the building. In addition to the speed of construction and the high quality of the elements, these facades withstand pressures of up to 1000 Pa. This makes the construction process much more efficient, requiring less on-site work and no scaffolding.

The prefabricated unitized facade, made of aluminum composite from Kempen Compoiet and the Hueck Unit L aluminum profile system, combines transparent and opaque sections, creating a play of transparency and reflection. The neighboring plots of Plus Ultra Leiden can easily integrate into this structure, forming a unique ensemble along Kop van Leeuwenhoek.
